Nursery News!

Dear Parents,

We only have 2 weeks left now of this term before the Easter break!

The children have been very busy learning about how things change and grow.

The sweetpeas that we planted at Nursery are growing in front of our eyes and we have loved hearing about and seeing all of the children's lovely cress heads ❤️

We have experimented with growing broad beans in clear plastic bags at Nursery this year - we are hoping that we will soon see the roots begin to sprout 🤞

This week it was time for planting sunflowers - everyone had the opportunity to enjoy listening to sunflower stories and planting their own seeds - we can't wait to see them grow.

I am sure we will be planting more seeds in the coming weeks.

Thank you to all who engaged with our Parent Teacher meetings over the last 2 weeks. We found it really beneficial to have the opportunity to talk with you about your children's progress - we hope you did too.

We have a T level student - Josh joining us for a work placement every other week until July. The children are enjoying having a male grownup to play and interact with.

Don't forget that there will be no afternoon session on Wednesday the 18th of March ( next week) as we have our Warriner farm visit. All children need to be collected from Nursery at 12:00 - we will meet you in the carpark at Warriner Farm at 1:00. Parents are required to stay with their children, siblings and family members are welcome. We look forward to seeing you there.

We are hoping to visit church soon to meet the new vicar, Revd Emily. I will let you know when a date is arranged - we would love some parent volunteers to walk with us there 🙏

Please see the attached poster regarding an Easter craft event that is being held in Church soon.

Can all parents check that your child's funding code is still valid. Some codes will need to be verified by the 31st of March to enable a funded place to continue, the next deadline is 31st of August.

Follow the link below to check your codes.

We are trying to encourage healthy eating at Nursery.

While many lunchboxes are a perfect example of a well balanced meal, we are noticing many prepackaged items that are high in sugar and salt which are obviously not ideal.

Please can you try to ensure that your child's lunch box doesn't contain too many of these items.

A sandwich, roll, wrap, pasta etc containing a protein based filling like cheese, egg, chicken ham etc, some fruit ,a yoghurt and a biscuit/cake/cereal bar treat would be a well balanced example of a healthy lunch.

Please don't put any nuts, popcorn, whole grapes or blueberries in your child's lunchbox as they could cause choking and/or allergic reactions.

( Halved or quartered grapes and blueberries are fine)

We really appreciate your support with this.

Dates for your diaries:

Primary school offer day is Thursday the 16th of April. All children leaving Nursery at the end of this academic year will be allocated their Primary school. We hope that you all get your first choice - please do let us know when you find out.

Sports day and leavers ceremony will be held on Friday the 3rd of July, weather permitting 🤞

If the weather is too wet - I will aim to let you know as soon as I can and we have a reserve date of Friday the 10th of July.

There will be no afternoon session on the day of Sports day, all children need to be collected at 12:00.

Sports Day will start at 1:00 and we aim to finish at 2:30 (ish).

Family members are very welcome to join us to cheer on your little ones.

This term ends on Friday the 27th of March returning on Monday the 13th of April.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Kind Regards

Mrs Trina Merry
